St Gallen defender Musah Nuhu has expressed his gratitude to Ghana national team coach James Kwesi Appiah for his recent call-up.
Nuhu made his first appearance in a Ghana camp during the team’s training in Dubai as preparation for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, he picked up a knee injury which ended his chances of being named in the Black Stars’ final 23-man squad for the tournament in Egypt.
Despite this frustration, Nuhu was grateful to Appiah for the chance to be in the set-up of the national team.
“Thanks to coach Kwesi Appiah for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be in his team but unfortunately this happened,” he told Football Made in Ghana.
“I hope to get well soon and strong to play under him again to achieve some glory. He made my dream come true and I’ll never forget that. I really appreciate [iy],” he added.
Nuhu also wished the entire team the best of luck going into the tournament.
“May Allah guide and protect the entire team so that we can achieve our aim. All the very best of luck to the team,” he stated.
Ghana will open their 2019 AFCON campaign with a clash against Group F rivals Benin in Ismailia on June 25. They will then face Cameroon four days later and wrap up the group stage with a matches against Guinea-Bissau on July 2.
